Premium Gutter Cleaning in Tujunga

Tujunga is the eastern half of Sunland-Tujunga, a foothill community under the San Gabriel Mountains and the Verdugo Mountains at the far corner of the San Fernando Valley. It started around 1913 as the Little Landers colony, and Bolton Hall and houses built from the local stone in those first decades are still standing among the postwar ranch homes and later hillside builds on irregular sloped lots. Composition shingle is the standard roof, and wood fascia and exposed rafter tails are common on the older homes.

Big Tujunga Canyon spills out of the mountains just above Sunland-Tujunga, and the wind that comes down it in a Santa Ana event is strong enough to refill a clean gutter within days. It carries pine needles, oak leaves, eucalyptus bark and foothill dust onto every roof. Most of the hillside is mapped as a very high fire hazard zone, and the 2009 Station Fire burned the mountains right above Tujunga, so dry gutter debris in fall is ember fuel at the roof edge. In winter, mountain runoff is heavy and fast, and a clogged downspout on a sloped lot sends water down the hill, against the foundation and into the neighbor’s yard below.
