Agoura Hills is a Conejo Valley city on the Los Angeles County side of the line, built mostly from the late 1960s through the 1990s after the Ventura Freeway opened. Ladyface Mountain and the Santa Monica Mountains open space wrap the south side, and Santa Ana winds push down through Kanan and Liberty Canyon carrying dry oak leaves, chaparral bits and dust. The 2018 Woolsey Fire crossed the 101 and burned through Liberty Canyon into the city, destroying homes, so the ember risk from a gutter full of dry litter isn’t theoretical.
